Parent Participation
The parent-caregiver relationship is essential to the child’s well-being. Mutual respect is needed to share ideas, concerns and suggestions for the child’s benefit. We strive to establish good, cooperative working relationships with all parents to make them feel welcome.
At Learning Grove Childcare Centre, we practice an open-door policy. If a parent wishes to observe his or her child during the day they are encouraged to do so, providing it does not cause stress to the child.
Parent Participation is welcomed and encouraged. Parent meetings are held four times per year. The centre plans a variety of extra-curricular activities; parents are encouraged to take part in outings and activities held by the centre (e.g. skating, swimming, field trips).
Parents are asked to participate in fundraising. Parents are welcome to sit on the advisory committee or fundraising planning committee. Parent suggestions are always welcome.
Fundraising & Community
The Learning Grove Childcare Centre is a non-profit organization. We operate primarily on the funds collected from parent fees.
To keep parent fees affordable, the centre relies heavily on fundraising to help cover some operating costs as well as to purchase equipment or other needs the centre may have.
Our annual summer fair held in late June is our biggest fundraiser. We also have a seafood ticket raffle in the fall. Parents, along with local businesses and members of the community, help out graciously with these fundraisers.
The children also take part in local fundraising. Each year, in the spring, the centre takes part in “Hop Day” or “Purple Day” to raise funds for causes such as muscular dystrophy and epilepsy.
We also take part in bagging groceries at local stores and participate in the food bank drive.
